Agafay Desert in 2 Days 1 Night from Casablanca overview:
The rocky desert of Agafay lies just a 3 hour drive from Casablanca and only 40 minutes from Marrakech. Although it does not offer the same golden, rolling sand dunes as the pre-Saharan steppe regions of Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga, these rocky dunes still exhibit the same feeling of remoteness – they are a good alternative to travellers who do not want to make the long drive to nomad desert camps around the area of Merzouga in the south of Morocco but would still like the experience of camel trekking and spending the night in a nomad camp under the stars. The area around Agafay is one of exquisite beauty – the trip begins in one of Morocco’s urban centres and moves into the remote landscape of the Atlas Mountains. Passing through mountainous landscapes of incredible scenic beauty, you will come across small hamlets with traditional mud-huts on your way to the rocky dunes of Agafay. On reaching your destination, you will be offered the opportunity of camel trekking at sunset to your nomad camp where you will spend an unforgettable night in a nomad camp in the desert.
If you are short on time and would still like to experience a desert trip in Morocco, Morocco Road Trips offers this 2-day desert trip starting from Casablanca – we guarantee to give you the trip of a lifetime, including camel trekking and an overnight glamping in the desert!

Agafay Desert – Marrakech (sightseeing) – Casablanca
Awake early to enjoy the sunrise, followed by a typical Moroccan breakfast. We will then drive to Marrakech where you will have the opportunity to visit the most attractive sights and highlights of the red city of Marrakech in a half day guided city tour. Your tour will begin in the square Jemaa El Fna – the traditional meeting point for peasants and merchants from the High Atlas and the South of Morocco. This has now become the busy, bustling centre of Marrakech. In the mornings this immense square, surrounded by the souk district and bordered by shops and workshops, is crowded with fruit, spice and plants sellers, story tellers, snake-charmers and many more! You will then head to Iben Youssef Medersa, which was built in the 14th century. You will enjoy seeing the beautiful motifs and architecture that are part of the building. After that you will go to visit the Bahia Palace, El Badi Palace, the Saadian Tombs and the main souks. Ideally placed on the Saharan trade routes, Marrakech was a convenient place for caravans and soon developed into a major craft and trading centre. You will have lunch here in a local restaurant and then continue to visit the famous Jardin Majorelle. In 1917 the famous French artist Jaques Majorelle moved to Marrakech and created these gardens before heading to Casablanca.
